I am a Senior Product Manager at Onshape/ PTC. I have a Masters and undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Design from Brown University. I am passionate about Engineering, Design and the Human-Centered Design process; I believe that the development of ideas are as important as the fabrication of the product. I also am well versed in the design process. I know how to research a need, understand the issue, create designs and iterate. I have been applying my fluid process to projects ranging from developing a Cloud-based CAD system, to biomechanical devices to art exhibits. Through my studies at Brown, I know about the science and math that goes into developing technologies, especially for people. I believe that I can use these skills to design new technologies and make a difference in this world.
At PTC, I am a Senior Product Manager on the Onshape team. Onshape is the first purely cloud-based CAD system. My role is to design future workflows and systems of our software. Onshape releases every three weeks, so I am constantly pushing and refining areas of the product. I apply my user centered design approach with my engineering background to understand how our software is used and what context it is used for. I design new features that allow users to do new actions in an intuitive fashion. I am also always communicating with customers to understand their needs and how they use the product.
At Brown, I found my passion for the user-centered design process. I worked on many wide ranging design projects. I co-founded Koi Prosthetics; a low-cost, active knee prosthetic and customizable lower limb socket. I collaborated with professors to test novel ways to use 3D printers. I worked in the Brown Design Workshop, where I helped other students with projects, taught community members how to use different design machines, and cultivate a space to build things. I was also contracted by other students as well as the school for projects, ranging from building weight lifting platforms to shelving to wedding favors.
I am really passionate about applying my design skills across different disciplines. I have enjoyed focusing on UX design through my job, and also applying these skills for physical products. I hope you enjoy my work!
