In collaboration with first graders, our task was to develop a toy or game that the children would have fun with. Through research, I learned that my project partner enjoyed playing with stuffed animals, as well as objects that could fly. Thus, I came up with the idea of a flying squirrel. The prototype has a skeleton in the shape of a paper airplane, and has weight distributed optimally for aviation. However, the body is made of plush material and Styrofoam; the toy can be thrown a far distance, while being soft and cuddly like a stuffed animal.
